Who we are in the words of our founder

My name is B.L. Berry. As my client, you are my passion. The computer is the best way for me to serve you. With the computer, I will produce for you a completely tested, personalized, custom website. That is today. How did I get to the point where you are my focus?

Biography - The Early Years

Being an avid reader, I decipher written or drawn codes into words. Since I live where I live, those words are American English. As I was growing up, I was quickly introduced to a quite different form of English, the tongues of Chaucer and Churchill, fascinating languages. Next was Latin with a teacher who drew the first few lines of the Iliad, in ancient Greek, on the board, and I was hooked. It was another method of communication.

College and programming

Later came French and German, then after college, a computer language I learned so that I could interact with others through a computer. When I applied for a job as a computer programmer, my interviewer asked whether I had only gone to college a year observing that I had agreed to having a year of College Algebra on my application. I replied that I had my Masters in Classics, adding, “This is just another language.” After the laughter died down, I found that I was hired.

Constructing software, business files, and websites with the computer both at work and at home involves much communication. Making the machines do what I want them to do is fun in and of itself. I do not have to play games on them. In fact I find many games boring; someone else had the real fun in designing them. When my life calmed down and I reached the stage of wanting something to do for myself and others, something that would make a difference, the world of computer programming had changed. I could not have my fun there any more.

Arriving at Today

A course in C++ and reading about some of the other, newer programming languages of the computer convinced me that I needed to look further for my true enjoyment: communication. I kept researching things on the web and saw many different, fascinating sites until one day it occurred to me that I was missing the whole point. I started looking into HTML, XHTML, and CSS, the languages with which to build all those wonderful websites. I have immersed myself in those languages, finding that even though they are simple, they can build marvelously complex forms. And yes, now I know what those newer programming languages are designed for. They provide accents and procedures for XHTML and CSS to use. They, too, are fun to design with.

Wondrous Websites LLC provides me with a way to spend the rest of my life communicating and interacting with people, designing with my computer, and producing those wonderful websites. I love what I am doing, I do it well, and I make certain that each design is the best, most useable, and accessible for my clients. I look forward to continuing to produce wonderful websites professionally done for the businesses in my own particular community, Ridgeland, Mississippi, USA and for those who consider the World Wide Web their community.

Advisory Committee

I have an advisory committee of two persons. One, with training in graphics design on Photoshop, has been a contracting officer (including a $25,000,000.00 warrant in one job and an unlimited warrant in another) with the Federal Government for many years and has a complex knowledge of government procedures and rules. The other is an attorney with an undergraduate accounting degree who has been in business for thirty-two years. Together, we make certain that Wondrous Websites LLC operates the way a business should.
